“Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.” Coco Chanel
Part of being our most authentic selves includes loving the skin we’re in, instead of overcompensating to cover it up. Blemishes and congestion can be caused by diet or hormones, but it may be something simpler: our skincare routine.
With the right combination of healthy ingredients, we can accentuate our radiant, natural glow, and make up will be a choice, not a necessity. After working in the beauty industry for years, I felt dissatisfied with the lack of clean ingredient skincare options. Price point is a legitimate concern, and it’s difficult to find a balanced trade-off.
After some serious research three years ago, I inspected every product label in my home, and tossed every product that included known carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, and dangerous unpronounceable multi-syllabic names. Being that the skin is our largest organ (just FYI), I was concerned about what I was absorbing and the effects on my overall health.
We must demand higher standards from beauty companies for healthier, cleaner skincare options. The journey for safer cosmetics has begun. Who’s with me?
